HUNDREDS of walkers will make their way through the historic market town of princes Risborough next week during its annual Walking Festival.
The festival begins tomorrow with themed walks planned to embrace the history, countryside, the unique landscape and wildlife Princes Risborough is surrounded by.
The walks are lead by enthusiasts brimming with local knowledge and keen to explore lost historic sites.
Risborough Countryside Group member Francis Gomme said the festival provides an opportunity to enjoy a simple stroll.
He said: «The Chilterns and Vale of Aylesbury take centre stage. As well as experiencing the fabulous local wildlife, walkers are taken back over 5,500 years to explore the ancient landscape of the area and while others will seek out out more recent history like the route of Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s first railway to the area. Also popular is the beginners guide to map reading and navigating walk and a beginners taste of Nordic Walking.»
The Festival organised by the Risborough Countryside Group, our local conservation, archaeology and rural heritage group with support from RACA, the town council, BCC and WDC.
