Bad weather on Bank Holiday Monday did not discourage the hardy ramblers who are taking part in the Malvern Walking Festival.
Festival organiser Ray Roberts said that the walks planned for that morning went ahead as planned, despite the heavy rain. «Apart from that, we've been lucky with the weather, and everyone has been enjoying themselves,» he said. «The numbers were a little down on last year to begin with, but they picked up with last-minute bookings.»
He said walkers had come from all over the UK and beyond to take part.- one couple from New South Wales had signed up for several walks. The 18-mile "end-to-end" walk on Saturday, one of the most strenuous, was fully subscribed, he said. The festival concludes this weekend.
