Eric Pollard joins the cast of the Isle of Wight Walking Festival

Emmerdale stalwart joins walking festival

EMMERDALE’S Eric Pollard will be leaving the Yorkshire Dales and joining the cast of one of the biggest events of its kind in Britain — the Isle of Wight Walking Festival.

As one of the soap’s longest-serving residents, actor Chris Chittell will be entertaining walkers and visitors alike at his stage show, An Evening with Chris Chittell, Emmerdale’s Eric Pollard, at Medina Theatre, on Friday, May 13.
Chris’s illustrated talk will cover his adventures while climbing Mount Kilimanjaro as well as the time he took part in the Jordan Desert Cup — a 168km, non-stop endurance race through desert and mountains — with the odd mention of Emmerdale thrown in for good measure.

Also appearing in the show will be Joanna Hall, a leading fitness, diet and lifestyle expert, who will be explaining the health benefits of her Walkactive technique as profiled in The Guardian Online last month.

With around 250 guided walks, the Isle of Wight Walking Festival attracts more than 20,000 visitors and locals a year.

New events are added annually and this May’s offerings include a tour of a secret bunker, which was built during the Second World War.

Ventnor Downs: Prehistory to Cold War is a 5.5-mile, five-hour stroll starting at the Smugglers Haven car park on Saturday, May 14.
Most walks during the festival (May 7 to 22) are free and can be booked in advance by logging on to
