Caminhada 1 – Above Pateley & below Guisecliffe.
Length – 5 miles (circular)
Grade – Moderate (due to two steep (25%) sections)
Elapsed time – 2.5 - 3 hrs
Description: A circular walk from Pateley Bridge and a great companion to Walk 14! Including a visit to Pateley’s old church and the hidden Guisecliffe Tarn. A farmland and woodland walk - paths may be muddy. There are two steep sections.
Caminhada 2 – Upper Nidderdale
Length – 6 miles (circular)
Grade – Moderate – some gradients climbs but only steep for short sections. Hills will be tackled slowly!

Description: A walk in the company of local resident Kate taking in some of the remote beauty of the upper dale; the isolated Blayshaw valley, remote hamlet of Stean and How Stean Gorge (known as ‘Little Switzerland). The gorge is privately owned and the price of the walk includes your entry fee – it has a café

Description: Join Tim for a superb, circular moorland walk with fabulous views, taking in two of the more unusual shooting houses in the area. There are two steep sections, the distance is long and the area is remote: full walking gear is required, along with a packed lunch.

Description: Join Gillian from the Iron Age (Nidderdale) Project for a short walk packed with interest. Visit a Bronze Age burial mound, an Iron Age settlement, Medieval iron workings and much more. We will take our time to explore these remains. The route is over rough ground, and may be boggy underfoot so wear suitable footwear.

Length – 8 miles (circular)
Grade – Moderate
Elapsed time – 6hrs (bring packed lunch)
Essential Equipment - Full walking gear, compass and OS Explorer 298 'Nidderdale'.
Description: Brush up your navigation skills with a full day's moorland walk on the hills above Pateley Bridge. During the day you will explore map skills, compass work, route simplification and the skills and knowledge required for a safe and enjoyable walk across open country away from paths and tracks. Packed lunch and full hill walking gear required (+ compass and map!).

Grade – Strenuous (due to distance)

Description – No trip to Nidderdale is complete without a visit to Brimham Rocks! There will be an opportunity to explore the rocks – as well as to visit the refreshment kiosk (alternatively, bring a packed lunch). The walk will also take in the appealing river, moor and valley landscape between Pateley and Brimham.

Length –5 miles
Grade – Easy
Elapsed time – 4-5 hrs
Description: Join local naturalist Nigel Heptinstall for a short walk. The planned route takes in water and woodland, but the route may change depending on the bird life in the area at the time.
Caminhada 9 – Around Summerbridge
Length – 3 miles
Grade – Easy
Elapsed time – 2 hrs
Description: Join local resident Rosemary for a short and leisurely stroll (as befits a Saturday!). This walk reveals the character of Lower Nidderdale as the valley widens out and land usage changes.
Caminhada 10 – Dacre and Thornthwaite
Length – 8 miles (circular – car share to start)
Grade – Moderate
Elapsed time – 4 hrs
Description: Join local residents Kevin and Kay for a walk around Dacre parish. A varied walk, mainly over farmland with stream-side and woodland, plus a possible ‘refreshment’ stop toward the end! Bring a packed lunch.

Grade – Strenuous (mainly due to distance)
Elapsed time – 7-8 hrs
Description: Walk in the footsteps of the monks from the Cathedral in Ripon to the ancient chapel of Bewerley Grange, via Fountains Abbey. The route also visits the dramatic Brimham Rocks. Bring a packed lunch. Transport to start included.

Description: Local expert Chris takes you back in time in Upper Nidderdale to show how life was lived at Scar House village and how the Nidderdale reservoirs were constructed. There will be an opportunity to see the film ‘A Century of Reservoirs’ before visiting the former Bradford Corporation reservoirs at the head of the Dale. Explore the site where over a thousand men and women lived and worked at the end of the 19th and early 20th century in one of Europe’s largest construction projects of the time. Fairly level walking but over uneven ground – 5 miles approximately. Transport provided.

Description: A walk at the margin of the moors with varied scenery, visiting two lesser known “lakes” in the vicinity, each with its own particular charm. The walk crosses farmland, moor and woodland (which may be muddy). Bring a packed lunch.
Caminhada 14 – Over Guisecliffe
Length – 6 miles (circular)
Grade – Moderate
Elapsed time – 3-4 hrs (bring a packed lunch)
Description: Join John and Wendy for a circular walk from Pateley Bridge. Begin along the River Nidd and then climb to Guisecliffe and Yorke's Folly. Farmland, moor and woodland all in just 6 miles, with some fabulous views. Some steep ascents and muddy in places. Bring a packed lunch.
Caminhada 15 – Low Stoney Grooves
Length – 10 miles (linear)
Grade – Moderate
Elapsed time – 5-6 hrs (bring a packed lunch)
Description: A walk exploring Nidderdale’s industrial heritage from Medieval, via Edwardian engineering to the present day. The route passes the BCWW sighting tower and explores evidence of lead mining in Nidderdale. Lots of history but also a very good walk in open country with stunning views on a clear day. Route may change due to stream levels. There is some overlap with Walk 5. Transport to start provided.
Caminhada 16 – Railways of Nidderdale
Length – 3 miles (linear – buses or car share)
Grade – Easy
Elapsed time – 3 hrs
Description: Chris guides you on a walk starting downstream from the village of Glasshouses through to the Wath Road North of Pateley Bridge, where the route of the now extinct Nidd Valley Railway meanders on its way from the principal towns and main lines of Harrogate and Ripon towards the Upper Nidderdale reservoirs and quarries with their own connecting railways systems. Although the tracks have long since gone, many fine artefacts of these railways remain to be explored and intriguing tales to be heard. This walk is a good companion to Walk 12 above.
