Caminhada nº 1
Is called “The Picnic” – literally a quick 3-mile stroll around Bury Field, the ancient common that stretches across 180 acres in the middle of town, but this year with the extra opportunity for young families to enjoy a scavenger hunt and picnic sites.
Thanks to the Countryside Directorate of Milton Keynes Council, which now maintains the Field with support from the local Commoners’Association, Muster visitors will this year find a handy path round the perimeter plus a set of illustrated plinths telling some of the most momentous events in Bury Field’s colourful past.

Caminhada nº 2
Appropriately known as “The History” is a 6-mile sign-posted route around the town and its surrounding outposts and featuring some of the most important historical landmarks and buildings. The ancient town, which sprang to national prominence as a Front Line garrison in the Civil War of the 17th century, is steeped in history with important buildings and institutions still surviving from those long-ago days like the old Swan Revived coaching inn and Silver Street where many homes have remained unchanged for centuries. The site of Newport’s United Reformed Church, once a haunt of Christian writer John Bunyan and later the poet William Cowper – and this year celebrating its 350th anniversary – will also feature on “The History” route… as will the Aston Martin site, Tickford Abbey & the Iron Bridge
Caminhada nº 3
“The History 2″
New this year – takes in a ‘spur’ that extends the route around Newport’s most ancient old town and leads walkers out to view three of the most spectacular grandHistory 2 Map houses across the Ouse … at Gayhurst, Tyringham and Lathbury Park. After completing History 1 as far as the High Street, reach Bury Field through the alley next to Boots the chemist, but only walk the field’s left side before following the Red Signs out past Kickles Farm. This route should total around 8 miles.
Caminhada nº 4
Finally, and great news this for all serious walkers who want to set themselves a more physically demanding test, course designer Yates has set a 15-mile circular walk from Newport simply titled “The Challenge” which promises to take walkers through the beautiful countryside surrounding Newport.
