The headquarters for the Walking Festival will be in The Buccleuch Centre (BC) in Buccleuch Square. All festival walks will start from the Buccleuch Centre. Car Parking is available at the Kilngreen, across the river from Mary Street, or at The Buccleuch Centre. Refreshments will be provided at the end of each walk, except Walk 3.

Sexta-feira 3 de Junho
The festival will be offically opened at 13.30 in the Buccleuch Centre by Billy Steele, Langholm's British Lion and Scottish Rugby Internationalist.

1. Flora Walk
(Approx. 6.5km/4 miles, circular low-level)
Start 14.00. Finish BC approx 17.00
This walk will explore the flora of the surrounds of Langholm. Easy pace. Mostly path & track - short section of tarmac.

2. Langholm's Twelve Bridges
(11km/7 miles, circular, low-level)
Start 14.00. Finish BC approx. 17.00
A lovely walk around the Muckle Toon visiting and crossing all twelve bridges that Gavin can think of!! Track, path and some tarmac.

3. Monument, Castle Craigs, MacDiarmid Memorial, Birnie Braes
(7km/4.5 miles, circular, Max Ht. 355m)
Start 16.00. Finish BC, approx 18.30.
A steep climb to the Monument but more gentle slopes thereafter. Track, path, some open hillside. Excellent views in all directions.

Sábado 4 de Junho
4. Langfauld, Bauchle Hill, Crumpton Hill, Rigg Valley
(15km/9.5 miles, Linear, Max Ht. 480m)
Start 10.00 prompt. Finish Bentpath Hall approx 15.30. Bus back to Langholm after refreshments. Bring a packed-lunch.
Woodland walk up the Esk valley followed by steep climbs to Crumpton Hill. Lovely walk from Meg's Shank down the Rigg Valley. Excellent views. Track and open hillside.

5. Glendinning, Antimony Mine, Dod Fell, Kirkgill Head and Sherra Craigs
(13km/8 miles, Linear, Max Ht. 463m)
Start 09.30. Bus from BC. Finish Bentpath Hall approx 15.30. Bring a packed lunch. Bus back to Langholm after refreshments.
Starts at the Thomas Telford Memorial followed by a reasonably steady climb up the Glenshanna Burn. Opportunity to see the disused Antimony Mine. Climb to Dod Fell and then ridge walk on open moorland with excellent views. Track, open hillside, hard going at times.

6.Moorland/Wildlife Walk
(Approx. 10km/6 miles, circular, Max Ht. 355m)
Start 10.30. Finish BC approx 15.00 Bring a packed lunch.
This walk will explore the wildlife of the SSSI. Led by local experts. Track and path. Relatively easy pace.

7. Lower Tarras Valley
(13km/8 miles, circular, Max Ht.151m)
Start 10.30. Finish BC approx. 15.00. Bring a packed lunch.
An opportunity to walk up the beautiful, wooded, Lower Tarras Valley, and then back into Langholm around the edge of Whita Hill. Path, track and short section of very quiet tarmac.

8. Becks Burn, Old Stone Bridge, Warb Law, Middleholms, Easton's Walk
(10km/6 miles, circular, Max Ht. 275m)
Start 11.00. Finish BC approx 15.00 Bring a packed lunch.
Warb Law provides excellent views of Langholm and the surrounding hills. Walk back into Langholm through woodland along the Esk. Path, track, short section of tarmac, open hillside, rough at times.

Evening entertainment
A buffet will be served in The Masonic Social Club, Mary Street, commencing 19.00. Followed by an evening of informal, local entertainment.Cost £7 inclusive of buffet and entertainment.

Domingo 5 de Junho
9. Canonbie to Langholm
(15km/9.5 Miles, linear, Max. Ht. 160m)
Start 09.30. Bus from BC. Finish BC approx 15.30. Bring a packed lunch.
A longish, moderate walk including the picturesque Fairy Loup and beautiful wooded Tarras valley. Very quiet tarmac, track, path, and small amount of open ground.

10. The New Canonbie Walk
(15km/ 9.5 Miles, circular, Max Ht. 73m)
Start 09.30 Bus from BC. Finish Canonbie Hall approx. 15.00 Bus back to Langholm for refreshments at BC.Bring a packed lunch.
The walk heads south down the River Esk includes Scotsdike (the line of the England/Scotland border) and some of the countryside W. of Canonbie. Track, path, some tarmac.

11. Broomholmshiels, Rashiel, Castle Craigs, Whita
(10.5km/6.5 miles, circular, Max Ht. 355m)
Start 09.30. Finish BC approx. 13.00 No packed lunch required.
Passes the Round House on the way to the lovely Tarras Valley returning to Langholm via Rashiel, The Bible Fields and Whita. Path, track, some open hill with a strenuous climb up from Rashiel.

12. Meikleholm, Roman Road, Potholm, Langfauld and Langholm Castle
(10.5km/6.5 miles, circular, Max Ht. 200m)
Start 11.30. Finish BC approx 15.30 Bring a packed lunch.
This is a moderate climb to Meikleholm Hill followed by an easier walk on track and road. Back into Langholm via Langholm Castle.
