Sábado, 22 de Outbro

SLIEVE BEARNAGH RIDGE

 Register   9.30am     Bus 10am
Leaving the shore of Lough Derg via The East Clare Way, the route ascends fairly steeply to Moylussa Mtn 523m., the highest point in the region. The ridge is followed all the way along westwards  over rough moorland and bog to descend and rejoin the East Clare Way to finish in Broadford. Panoramic views of Lough Derg, the Shannon Estuary and up to 8 counties in optimum visibility can be seen throughout the walk

 SHEEHAUN,  TURKENAGH  MTN
 Register   10.30am     Bus 11am

Starting on the East Clare Way, the walk gradually ascends the southern slopes of  the  Aughty Mtns. before turning off through forestry tracks to a viewing point above Scariff and Lough Derg with good views of Holy Island and the Tipperary lakeshore. Thereafter, crossing open moorland and bog with extensive views across the Aughty Mountains into Co. Galway, the route descends from Turkenagh, 336m., to rejoin the East Clare Way to the pick-up point at Baha Bridge

  BALLYCUGGARAN  LOOP

Initially using the same route as  the Slieve Bernagh Ridge Walk, the Ballycuggaran Loop skirts Moylussa Mtn. by forestry track with splendid views along Lough Derg. A steep descent crossing a ford, weather permitting, rejoins the East Clare Way to our finishing point at Pipers Inn (closed).
    Distance 7  km.
     Time 2.5  hrs.



Domingo, 23 de Outubro

  BALLYCROUM  and  LOUGH  EA   
    Register   9.30am     Bus 10am
Starting near Lough Graney, the route takes the East Clare Way to ascend to Ballycroum  268m. Heathland ,moorland and bog tracks take us past some megalithic tombs. Leaving the East Clare Way near Glendree a bog path takes us further up to Lough Ea 283m one of the highest small lakes in this region of the S.W. Aughty Mtns. Retracing our steps at first, we then rejoin the East Clare Way on forest track to the finish in Derryulk.
 Distance 14  km.
     Time 6  hrs.

 CARNAGNOE VALLEY
  Register  10.30am      Bus 11am

Starting from the Pipers Inn (closed) the route follows the East Clare Way before ascending steeply using part of the Ballycuggaran Loop through a ford, weather permitting, on to the slopes of Moylussa Mtn. by forestry track to a height of 400m. Open moorland and a gradual descent into the heathland of the Carnagnoe valley afford views of Lough Derg and the Slieve Bearnagh Range before rejoining the East Clare Way to the finish at Ballylachan.
 Distance  12  km. 
 Time  4  hrs.
 

CAHERMURPHY  LOOP
Register   9.30am     Bus 10am
Starting at Cahermurphy Wood, the walk takes in the shore of Lough Graney  then  follows  woodland paths alongside  the Bleach River. Using a short section of the East Clare Way the loop then steadily ascends by country lane and track to a short steep section up to a superb viewpoint, 180m., overlooking Flagmount and Lough Graney. A short steep descent on the old Mass path takes us back to Flagmount.
    Distance 7  km.
     Time 2 hrs.

The Festival commences at 9pm on Friday 21st. October with a welcome reception at the Headquarters for the weekend..McNamara's Bar & Restaurant, Main St., Scariff, Co. Clare.

The Welcome Evening affords  the opportunity to meet members of the East Clare Walking Club who will be the guides for the weekend. The participants will be able to view the walking routes, mingle with  and chat about the chosen walks. A warm welcome awaits the participants  with guest speakers, traditional music and craic.
